All I Want for Christmas…

30 November 2009 2 Comments

I’m a little late to the gift list party (many folks posted theirs on Black Friday), but my tendency to procrastinate afforded me the chance to peek at what other bloggers were recommending. Here are a few of my favorite lists: Jason Yaddao’s, for plugging great books by Fanfare/Ponent Mon… Rob of Panel Patter’s, for including such hilarious categories as “For Your 40 Year Old Friend Who Likes 1980s Sci-Fi” and “For the Person Who Doesn’t Want to Read Right-to-Left”… Brigid Alverson’s, for suggesting both kid- and fogey-friendly titles… Melinda Beasi’s, for its depth, breadth, and elegance… and last but not least Scott Green’s, both for its idiosyncracies (he’s one of a handful of bloggers to go well beyond manga titles in his suggestions) and for mentioning Tokyo Godfathers, one of the best Yuletide movies ever. (If you’re thoroughly sick of It’s a Wonderful Life, Tokyo Godfathers makes an excellent substitute.) Special thanks to Erica Friedman and David Welsh for spearheading this effort, and for writing such terrific gift guides themselves!

Wow, thanks for that! What a lovely thing to say.

Well, shoot, it was a right fine list! I still marvel at your ability to crank out elegant prose week after week.
