Black Jack Contest Winners!

7 August 2009 One Comment

Congratulations to manganeko and Sarah Hayes, the winners of The Manga Critic’s Black Jack Giveaway! Both contestants penned witty paeans to the good doctor’s surgical supremacy, and for their efforts, they’ll each receive the first six volumes of Tezuka’s crowd-pleasing favorite.

Before I share the winning entries, I want to thank David Welsh, Brigid Alverson, Ken Haley, and many, many others for publicizing the contest; David, in particular, went the extra mile with a tribute to everybody’s favorite teratoid cystoma.

MANGANEKO’S ENTRY

Dear Dr. Black Jack,

I am writing this letter pleading for your help. While researching my young son’s rare illness and the lack of medical treatment, I came across website testimonials concerning your amazing abilities as a surgeon and doctor. I feel only your expertise offers my family hope, where every other doctor tells us to take our son home to die. We would greatly appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Also based on private emails, our family understands about your payment policy.

Sincerely yours,
Little Jerrod’s mother

P.S. A Dr. Kiriko has contacted us.

SARAH HAYES’ ENTRY

Doctor Black Jack, gimme the news
I gotta bad case of loving you
No Dr Tenma’s gonna cure my head
I’ve got a bad case of lovin’ you

You ain’t pretty but you sure are smart
Your scalpel’s always cutting quick to my heart
For girls that aren’t Pinoko, you don’t have any eye
Cause when a patient calls, you gotta say goodbye

Doctor Black Jack, gimme the news
I gotta bad case of loving you
Dr. Kiriko ain’t gonna come and cure me
I’ve got a bad case of lovin’ you.
