Unless you’ve been away from the Internet for months, you’re probably aware that tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day. There isn’t much manga on offer — just a Del Rey sampler with several OEL titles — but the kid-friendly selection is especially strong this year. Click here to read previews of this year’s comics or find a participating retailer near you.
Speaking of kid-friendly comics, my GC4K colleague Snow Wildsmith weighs in on the new edition of Eric Shanower’s Little Adventures in Oz… for folks suffering premature Mushishi withdrawal, David Welsh offers a thoughtful reading list, to which I’d like to add a non-manga suggestion: Lafcadio Hearn’s Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things… Erica Friedman is still enjoying the hell out of Jormungand, and is giving away a copy to prove it. Click here for the review and contest details… speaking of giveaways, you have until 4 PM today to enter Johanna Draper-Carlson’s Mercury drawing. Details here… and an eagle-eyed Twitterer (@Sonicbug) reports that the Go! Comi forums are down. A quick glance around the site reveals no new updates since September 2009, which makes me wonder if they’re out of business for good. Let’s hope not — I want to know how Cantarella ends!
